Rumors have recently been flying around the various MSC circles concerning the campus radio station, WMSR, and the temporary change in broadcasting. As of this writing, all that can be confirmed is that they are simply rumors. Don Hudak, station manager of WMSR, was interviewed, in the possibility that some light could be shed on the situation. Due to the nature of the problem, this was not possible, but he did release a statement that, hopefully, will quiet wagging tongues. Hudak stated, "WMSR has been having problems during the past week, concerning station problems. We are presently trying to resolve the problem and correct the current situation. As far as we know, everything is all right. WMSR programming is back to normal, but upon the recommendation of college officials, only authorized station members will be allowed in the station until we are sure that things are completely back to normal. We ask the student body to please bear with us and to be understanding during our present difficulties. Hopefully, there will be no noticeable change in our broadcasting." Hudak further stated that further information would be released as soon as possible. He also outlined the temporary station policy concerning station members. The policy to be followed until further notice applies to all station members. At a meeting held last week for the WMSR staff, each individual was issued a temporary WMSR identification card, signed by Hudak and the member's respective council representative. To gain admittance to the station, a member must contact a security officer. The officer will allow the member into the station after presentation of the individual's college ID and validated WMSR pass. Hudak stressed the fact that he hopes the situation is only temporary, and all operations will return to normal in the immediate future. |
