"The annual, spendable income will be awarded to a student with junior class standing at the end of the spring semester, who is a member of the WIXQ Executive or Station Council and who has worked at WIXQ for at least two semesters. Recipients will be selected by a committee, including the WIXQ staff advisor, a member of the Student Affairs staff, two graduating senior students from WIXQ, and a WIXQ alumnus."

In autumn 2000, station advisor Ralph "Doc Roc" Anttonen and some soon-to-be station alumni made a goal of creating a scholarship fund to benefit deserving students who volunteer at WIXQ. Through discussions with the Millersville University Development Office, it was determined that a seed amount of $10,000 was required to begin giving an annual award. At that point, the work began. $5,000 was instantly committed by Erik Gudmundson, the graduating station manager, who won $5,000 for the station in the Scripps Howard "Most Valuable Staffer" broadcast competition. Doc Roc and Mama Roc have made a generous personal contribution each year. Many honorable station alumni contributed during and after the 2002 WIXQ / WMSR Alumni Reunion.

In 2005, the first scholarship award to a WIXQ student volunteer was granted. Each year, thanks to your donations, WIXQ has continued to provide an award to another deserving student. Special thanks are due to Ralph & Judith Anttonen, Philip Bailey, Barry and Linda Bealer, Jerry Beck, Matthew Blasick, John and Michelle Costanzo, Stephen D'Ercole, Betty and William Foor, Edward Fossi, Erik Gudmundson, David Kyle, Sean Milligan, Laurie Piotrowski, C. Ralston, Carol Ranck, Toni Riedel, and Edward Whitelock.

If you wish to donate to the WIXQ Award Endowment, please take note of the following information:

• You can donate online. (Be sure to enter WIXQ as your gift designation.)
• All donations are received through the Millersville University Development Office, specifically the "Millersville University Foundation."
• If you have already made plans to give to the University in general, please consider earmarking your funds for this new WIXQ Award.
• When you donate, please be certain to clearly specify that your gift is for the "Keith Ranck / Doc and Mama Roc WIXQ Award."
• The Foundation accepts checks and credit cards online, in person, by mail, over the phone (717-872-3820). You will receive a receipt from the MU Foundation by postal mail.
• Your gift may be tax deductible.
• Many companies will match gifts given by current employees or retirees to higher education foundations. Contact your employer and Lee Eastwood in the University Development Office for more information.
